Is it just my perspective or are there *a lot* of cat lovers here in The Pond? It seems like there are a lot of cat graphics and gifs, which routinely make me smile. I always thought I was a "dog guy". I hadn't been around cats much, but my take was that they were aloof and not very affectionate. I was always opposed to having a cat in my home. I went on a biz trip once and when I came home, the family had adopted a baby "barn cat" from a relative with a farm they visited while I was gone. I didn't oppose the cat, just wasn't my cup of tea. Then the cat started buddying up to me, following me around the house, sitting next to me on the couch. The next thing I know, that cat and I are "bros". He completely won me over. Now Z-cat is in the NAFO Cats Division and a member of The YEET Brigade. It turns out I'm a "cat guy" after all. I would have never expected that. One of life's good surprises.
