The 3,400 km Ukrainian drone run to Omsk had me thinking of Lindbergh with P-38 Lightning. He taught pilots how to run the thing properly: lean the mixture, drop the RPM, don’t flog the engine, find the sweet spot and just let it cruise. Ofcourse. A small two-stroke isn’t a fuel-sipping miracle. But tune it right, keep the weight down, clean up the airframe, get the prop and cruise speed sitting happy and suddenly that little angry lawnmower apairanty goes a very very long way.
