"9 years ago there was an article in the local newspaper about a group of teenagers who stole a bus which had its keys left in it and took it on a joyride down the sea front before crashing it. Partner and I said “dick heads!” Fast forward.. during a conversation with my daughter’s fiancé recently… found out he was one of them!! (Dickhead)"

"I have 3 massive carrier bags filled with beer bottle tops. Started collecting in 2008. Husband wont let me throw them out in case they become currency if the financial system crashes."

"I've never once been poorly without my partner of ten years being poorlier than me within a few hours. I've now given up with saying anything at all and riding through the pain to prevent them from faking an illness. They're never ill any more."

"Watched a dude carry a screaming toddler across the parking lot. He noticed me looking at him and said, “He’s mine, I’m not stealing him” and then before I could reply he added, “If I was gonna take one, it definitely wouldn’t be this asshole.”"

"My 1st ever date I took her to Nandos. Wanting to look hard I ordered xtra hot instead of my usual lemon & herb. Went back to her parents & immediately needed the toilet. Spent the whole time there crapping my guts out. Her Mum drove me home with my soiled undies in a Lidl bag"

"I'm spending the 4th of July alone. When people ask me my plans I always make some elaborate story up and tell people that i'm celebrating the way that I imagine others do every year, tell them what food i'm making, tell them what family members are coming. The truth is I have no family. I have spent the last 17 years alone of the 4th of July because i don't want to be a burden anyone."

"I keep a note on my phone of every compliment anyone's ever given me, because my brain deletes them within the hour but keeps every insult since 2004 in mint condition."

"Been a school Crossing Guard on the same corner for 15 years. There was a kid called George years back with a bad stutter, got bullied really bad for it at school. Every morning he'd tell me one fact he'd memorized the night before, to practice talking to someone who'd actually wait for him to finish. I acted amazed every time, even the dumb ones. Anyway. Last month a man in a suit stops at my crosswalk, looks at me, smiles, and says "penguins can't taste fish." I knew instantly. I hugged him like he was my own son, and I stood there on the corner holding my stop sign like a mess with happy tears while he talked to me till the end of my shift. He stuttered twice the whole time. I have never been more proud of anyone in my life. He's coming over on the 4th of July."

"Sometimes I lie in bed next to the person I love most in the world and miss someone I invented when I was nineteen. She doesn't exist. She never did. But God, we were happy."

"When I was younger....I had sex with three different partners in one day, at seperate times without them knowing. They all had the same first name too. One of them was very late that night, on a closed playground, and ball field."

"Hot day, so bought a three-pack of Magnums and had one. Then ate a second. Hubby called and said "We've got no Magnums, I'll get some on my way home". That lone third Magnum was evidence, so I had to eat it to hide my shame."

"I worked at a Chuck E Cheese as a pizza cook. My coworker was in the mouse costume, and was heading into the kitchen as I filled a drink at the doorway for myself. Some small child ran up to him, and grabbed his leg for a big hug... "Chuck E Cheese" turned to him, grabbed the kid in a side hug, pressed the kids head up to his butt and farted so loud... on the side of the kid's face... the kid was so excited to get a hug that he didn't notice or hear it... a muffled laughing coming from the head as my coworker walked by me into the kitchen, he pulled his head off sweating, laughing so hard, but coughing because the fart went up into the head. I was both disgusted and laughing so hard I was crying, the moment he caught his breath he asked, "Did you hear it?" I couldn't answer outside of a nod as I was laughing too hard to speak. If you're the kid who ran up and hugged Chuck E Cheese' leg as he tried to escape that day, all grown up, reading this... He farted on your head."

"There was only one night when I came close to telling you how I felt. We lay there with the stars above us, and when you looked into my eyes, I felt as though you could see straight through me. My heart beat so hard I was sure you could hear it, and I imagined yours was doing the same. I could see that you were waiting for me to speak and I knew that when I spoke, you would let me keep a small piece of your heart, and you would keep the whole of mine forever. I looked at your lips like I had never been kissed. As you looked into my eyes, I felt like I had never truly been seen before that night. And then I said nothing because I knew I didn't trust myself with something so precious. And with that silence, I let you go forever. It didn't hurt because I let you go or because you would never be with me. It hurt because I know that no one will ever love you as much as I still do."

"When my father was dying of cancer, I got the opportunity to visit him one last time in a nursing home. I stayed for two weeks nearby, bringing whatever food or treats he requested, and tried to spend as much time with him as possible. He had a stroke so could not walk anymore, and would hallucinate sometimes. The night before I had to catch a red eye home, he said to me "Hey kid, the nurses said you could spend the night here. There's another clean bed right there you can use" I told him I couldn't as my flight was so early that I wouldn't be able to make it, and I would have to leave. He was disappointed, but understanding. When I got up and said my goodbye to him a little while later, I was inextricably sad, but didn't want to show it. I knew this was the last time I'd see him. I was so distraught, that when I left, I walked the wrong way out of his room, and had to turn around to walk the other way, passing his room again, as I did he looked right at me, but had the saddest look on his face Ive ever seen before. That look devastated me, I couldn't drive off when I got to the car. I just sat there drying my eyes out for over an hour. The look on his face......disappointment, sullen, terrified even......I will never forget, and is seared into my psyche. I think about it almost everyday."
